After grilling steak last night, and fish and shrimp tonight, I turned off the gas and I put some water on the broiler pan and closed the griddle and put some water on the griddle so I could do a good scrub a dub dub. Well the griddle was very 'hot', naturally, and I created a lot of steam and fog. So I started thinking of the mentions of warped griddles and wondered if that was what I was trying to accomplish. Is there a wait time before putting water on for an easy clean up, would this warp a griddle?...v

I don't know if it will warp the griddle or not.
That is the recommended way to clean the griddle.
It is either in the service manuel and or the
idle hour cookbook to put hot water in a hot
grill pan and or griddle. They were pretty
plain about cleaning the griddle and straightening
it when it warped.

Ms V.
I pour hot soapy water into the broiler pan and let soak for easy clean up.
When I do manage to warp my griddle I take it out to DH wooden work bench and pound out the warp with a rubber mallet. That's one way the service manaul suggests.

Be sure to include some ammonia in that soapy water. In my experience, it makes the cleaning sooo much easier.

I beleive that Griddle warping is caused by 2 things. One is too much heat and the other is miss-adjustment of the griddle support screws on the top of the broiler burner. If your food sticks to the griddle you have too much heat. Use the dancing water droplet method of checking for correct heat.
